The documents that decide which band a job sits in. Published by NHS Employers and linked here rather than reproduced, so you always read the current version.
Every NHS role is matched to a band using the NHS Job Evaluation Scheme. A national profile is the published match for a role: the responsibilities it carries and the band those responsibilities score into.
A national profile is the job-evaluation match for a role. Individual posts are matched locally, so an employer may band a job differently from the national profile. A profile tells you how a role is normally banded, not how your specific post was banded.

How to Read These
- Profile suites contain the profiles themselves, one per role and band.
- Corrections notices are not profiles. They list amendments made since a suite was published, and should be read alongside it.
- Publication dates vary widely, and an older one is not a problem. Profiles are revised only when a role changes. Every link here was checked against the NHS Employers listing on 2026-08-12 and is the version currently published — including 10 suites last revised in 2023 or 2024, which are still the live documents.
